Banding Together Over Moments That Break You with Betsy and Amanda of “Why Mommy Drinks”

Banding Together Over Moments That Break You with Betsy and Amanda of “Why Mommy Drinks”

July 23, 2020

If you've listened to even a few of our podcast episodes, or attended The Pump and Dump Show, you know a lot of our mission is to keep it real and honest as we navigate motherhood. No filters. No B.S. Just truth.

Well, there's no one better to commisserate with than the awesome moms of the brilliant, hilarious and wildly popular podcast "Why Mommy Drinks" and we're lucky to be able to chat with hosts Betsy Stover and Amanda Clark about life with three kids (they EACH have three kids!) laughing and bonding over the moments that break us as moms, and why they now scream CAW CAW! in solidarity at Target.

There's nothing more validating that finding a Band of Mothers who support and love you, while laughing the whole time. If you haven't had a chance to "meet" Betsy and Amanda, then you're in for a real treat.

A Practical (and easy!) Introduction to Herbal Medicine and Building Immunity During Covid

A Practical (and easy!) Introduction to Herbal Medicine and Building Immunity During Covid

July 16, 2020

Have you ever wondered about incorporating herbal medicine into your family's health protocol, but maybe you've been overwhelmed, intimidated, skeptical or just downright nervous about it? Well you're in luck! We're lucky to be able to chat with clinical herbalist Laura Clemmons of Strega Gardens - a down-to-earth, easy to understand, definitely not intimidating mom who helps us understand how to dip our toes into incorporating herbal medicine into our family's toolbox - especially to help build immunity during COVID.

Laura walks us through easy (like unbelievably easy) ways to incorporate healing herbs that we probably already have in our kitchens into our daily lives, and gives a basic overview on why she trusts herbal medicine for her kiddos. We also dig into what a "witch" really is, and why healing is totally a woman's lineage. Which OBVIOUSLY means we should all be watching Outlander too, lol.

This episode is loaded with great info, and as we head ever closer to an uncertain fall we're grateful for anything we can do to stay healthy and confident, including:
- the difference between Eastern and Western herbal medicine
- protocol for taking your family out in public and how to cleanse out germs after an outing
- thoughts on essential oils and safety
- how to treat an ear infection
- easy to understand books to dive deeper into practical herbology
- what we have in our kitchens right this moment to help boost our immune systems
- how to get your kiddos to "take the medicine"

Check out Laura's website for more information on all the services she provides, including hormone balancing, increasing fertility, herbal consultations, energy healing and oracle readings.

Love BOM: #SaveTheArts

July 13, 2020

We're trying out a new addition to our podcast: the Love BOM. This is a short burst of positivity, perspective, honesty, heart, high vibes and love that you can listen to alone - or with your family. Just a moment in your day or week (no more than 20 minutes) that we hope brings you some reflection and joy. We're not sure if we're up to the task, so let's find out and tell us what you think!

Our 2nd Love BOM is inspired by the shutting down of Broadway for the rest of 2020 and an article by Dave Grohl in The Atlantic.

We hope you can take a moment to reflect on what it means to truly, deeply LOVE what you do.

Enjoy your BOM.

The Pump and Dump Show’s Angela Peel Tells Her Story: Teenage Pregnancy, American Idol and Why She Keeps Her Guard Up

The Pump and Dump Show’s Angela Peel Tells Her Story: Teenage Pregnancy, American Idol and Why She Keeps Her Guard Up

July 9, 2020

We're so excited to bring you Angela Peel's story this week! Ang is part of our Midwest Cast, and resides in Chicago (by way of Chicago then LA then Florida then Chicago lol.) We feel in love with Angela for her voice and her larger than life presence when we met her at auditions, but then we became family for life once we had the privileged to get to know her. She's a mom of an 18 year old, and a 6 year old and the years in between are quite a story...including becoming a finalist on the first season of American Idol (hello scoop on Kelly Clarkson and Ryan Seacrest!) but more importantly leaving an abusive relationship, following her dreams, fighting for the life she wants and taking the bus to the hospital to give birth.

Love BOM: We Hold These Truths

Love BOM: We Hold These Truths

July 6, 2020

We're trying out a new addition to our podcast: the Love BOM. This is a short burst of positivity, perspective, honesty, heart, high vibes and love that you can listen to alone - or with your family. Just a moment in your day or week (no more than 20 minutes) that we hope brings you some reflection and joy. We're not sure if we're up to the task, so let's find out and tell us what you think!

Our first Love BOM is inspired by these four things:

The 4th of July

Hamilton, the musical (that we were fortunate to watch on Disney+)

Episode 76: Protests, Policy and Why We Need Black Friends with State Representative James Coleman and Shayna Coleman

The July 4th email my husband, Jonathan Tee, sent to his staff, which I read in it's entirety.

We hope you can take a moment to reflect with us on our country, our duty, our struggles and our hope. Also, if you have the chance to watch Hamilton on Disney+ with your family, DO IT. (not an ad, it's just that good, and that important.)

I love you. I love you, WE love you SO. MUCH.

Enjoy your BOM.

Love,
Tracey

Having a Baby During Quarantine: Ali Levine on Birth Advocacy, Believing in Yourself, and Rocking a VBAC

Having a Baby During Quarantine: Ali Levine on Birth Advocacy, Believing in Yourself, and Rocking a VBAC

July 2, 2020

COVID has messed up, well, just about everything. But being pregnant? Giving birth? In a mask? Maybe without your partner? That is MESSED UP.

Ali Levine (celebrity stylist, Stripped on BRAVO) has never been one to shy away from her truth - either sharing it, or living it. Grab a cuppa and settle in for Ali's amazing story of her journey to the VBAC she knew she could have after a traumatic birth with her first daughter (which lead to post partum depression) combined with navigating quarantine life with a baby growing inside you, to speaking up and sticking up for herself - and believing in herself - enough to carry her baby to term, push it out, AND THEN get the hell out of dodge and pack up her two week old, her two year old, her husband and her dog to escape to the mountains of Pennsylvania with her in-laws. Trust us, there's something in here for everyone. Also a lot of talk about hemorrhoids.
